China Shuts Down Coke Purchase Of Juice Giant

Law360 (March 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Chinese antitrust regulators have blocked the Coca-Cola Co.'s $2.5 billion acquisition of Chinese juice giant China Huiyuan Juice Group Ltd., a proposed deal viewed as the first major tryout of China's new anti-monopoly law.

The deal was rejected Wednesday, with Chinese authorities saying Coca-Cola's purchase of the Chinese juice company would have had a negative impact on competition.
