Insurers Guilty Of Ogden Rate Hysteria, Top Lawyer Says

Law360, London (May 19, 2017, 11:32 AM BST) -- U.K. insurers have reacted with “hysteria” to the government’s tougher new personal injury compensation formula and have been underpaying victims for years, a leading claimant lawyer said on Friday.

Brett Dixon, the new president of the Association of Personal Injury lawyers, attacked the industry’s attitude to the recently modified “Ogden Rate,” which courts use to calculate lump sums for serious injuries.
