Exelon Threatens To Close Three Mile Island, Blaming Pa.

Law360, New York (May 30, 2017, 1:42 PM EDT) -- Exelon Corp. on Tuesday said it will close its Three Mile Island nuclear power plant based in Pennsylvania in September of 2019, about 15 years before its license is set to expire, citing years of financial losses and faulting the state for not offering better nuclear incentives.

The company said it will terminate capital investments, cancel fuel purchases and give notice to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that it is moving to permanently shut down the plant.
