Claims Payouts Could Slow During Crisis: Attys

Law360, New York (March 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With property casualty insurers feeling increasing financial pressures and an upswing in claims expected, corporate policyholder attorneys say there are likely to be more insurance disputes over payment delays and other claims issues.

While insurance representatives say P/C insurers are generally in good financial shape and are still paying claims, lawyers who specialize in dealing with policyholders say they are starting to notice instances of slower payments and claims processing from some insurers, declining to name insurers specifically.
