By Jack Newsham (June 1, 2017, 7:55 PM EDT) -- Aitan Goelman, who led the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission's enforcement division until earlier this year, has rejoined Zuckerman Spaeder LLP to lead its securities and commodities litigation group, the law firm said Thursday.
Goelman had spent nearly three years as the enforcement director of the CFTC, whose oversight obligations swelled with the 2010 passage of the Dodd-Frank Act. His staff imposed $7 billion in sanctions against fraudsters and investments banks for breaking derivatives rules, even raking in more than the agency's better-funded peers at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a banner year for settlements with big banks.
