By Benjamin Horney ( June 12, 2017, 9:33 PM EDT) -- Western Digital Corp. will increase its bid for Toshiba Corp.'s multibillion-dollar memory chip business to at least $18 billion, according to a Monday report from Reuters. Western Digital is part of a Japanese government-led group vying for the business. The group's new offer will be made by Thursday, the report said, which is the day Toshiba is expected to announce a preferred bidder. At the moment, a proposal from Broadcom Ltd. and Silver Lake Partners LP, worth 2.2 trillion yen ($20 billion) is the highest offer, the report said. Reports last week said Bain Capital was joining Western Digital. Monday's report also noted that Apple Inc. and Dell Inc. will join a group led by Foxconn Technology Group in making an offer for the Toshiba business....
