Ind. Gov. Backs Coal Gasification Plant

Law360, New York (March 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Touting the measure as an advancement in “clean coal" technology, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels has signed a bill allowing the state's finance authority to negotiate 30-year contracts to purchase substitute natural gas from a planned coal gasification facility.

Daniels on Tuesday signed Senate Bill 0423, giving the Indiana Finance Authority the power to buy SNG from coal gasification facilities, which the authority will then sell to regulated utilities for delivery to customers.
