Fla. Gov. OKs Bill To Implement Med. Marijuana Expansion

Law360, Miami (June 23, 2017, 10:31 PM EDT) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation Friday to implement a recently passed state constitutional amendment broadening legalization of medical marijuana, a bill that establishes a framework for the state Department of Health to follow in forming rules and regulations for patients, health care providers and the supporting industry.

Amendment 2 expanding medical marijuana was backed by 71 percent of Florida voters in November's election, but it took extra work in a special session for legislators to come together on Senate Bill 8A.
