American General, Retirees Resolve Benefits MDL

Law360, New York (March 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- American General Life & Accident Insurance Co. has settled with 739 of its retired workers or their survivors in multidistrict litigation alleging the insurer reneged on a policy to provide its retirees with life insurance coverage until their deaths at the company's expense.

Judge Henry Lee Adams of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida ordered that the claims of all plaintiffs in the MDL be dismissed with prejudice and that the MDL and its member cases be closed.
