US Airways Pilots Union Ducks $2.25M Dues Refund

Law360, New York (March 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Airline Pilots Association has dodged losing up to $2.25 million in union dues from a class of 1,700 pilots suing the union over disputed seniority lists adopted when US Airways Inc. merged with America West Airlines Inc.

Judge Neil V. Wake dismissed the pilots' claims for monetary and injunctive relief relating to past and future payments of union dues in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona on Thursday, finding that a refund would be punitive, which in this case is prohibited....
