BAA Dismisses Calls For Break-Up

Law360 (August 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rejecting demands for its break-up, embattled U.K. airports operator British Airports Authority has urged the Office of Fair Trading to focus upon “the true interests of consumers” in its industry study instead of supporting the dismantling of the current ownership structure.

On Thursday, BAA responded to a growing list of opponents who have accused the operator of harming competition through its alleged stranglehold of the U.K. airport industry.
