AXA Suit Over Insurance Scam Survives Bid To Toss

Law360, New York (April 1, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- AXA Equitable Life Insurance Co. will be able to pursue allegations that trustees for a group of life insurance policies were involved in an illegal scam to persuade elderly people in Florida to sign up for policies with large face values for the benefit of outside investors.

Judge Daniel T.K. Hurley of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday denied a motion to dismiss the suit, finding that the insurer had adequately stated its claims and that jurisdiction was appropriate....
