Law360, New York (August 15, 2017, 11:31 AM EDT) -- The legal assistant killed in Charlottesville, Virginia, while counter-protesting a white nationalist demonstration was a student of the law who believed in its power to help people, according to her former supervisor.

Heather Heyer, 32, joined the Miller Law Group five years ago with only a high school diploma, having previously worked as a waitress, and became a mainstay in the firm's bankruptcy department, where she cultivated the admiration and trust of her peers.
