Energy Protectionism Incidents Are “Isolated”: Kroes

Law360, New York (September 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Even as the European Commission continued to crack down on anti-competitive practices in the energy sector, Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes has said that efforts by national governments to create national energy champions are "isolated incidents."

That scarcity proves the effectiveness of regulators’ efforts to dismantle national barriers for companies, Kroes said, speaking at a conference of business and political leaders in Cernobbio, Italy on Saturday.
