Historically Black College Settles Race Bias Case

Law360, New York (April 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Benedict College, a historically black institution in Columbia, S.C., has agreed to pay $165,000 to settle allegations that it unlawfully discriminated against three white faculty members.

Under the settlement, Argiri Aggelopoulou, Michael Hale and Katherine Mille will take home $55,000 each. Benedict College also agreed to distribute copies of its equal employment opportunity policy; to provide training to its administrators, faculty and employees; and to make periodic reports to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
