EU To Investigate French Bid To Privatize Ports

Law360 (April 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A recently passed French law to overhaul the way the country manages its declining seaports has attracted the attention of the European Commission, which will consider whether a measure to privatize port operations would violate Europe's rules on state aid.

The commission intends to launch a probe into the French law, which received approval from both houses of France's legislature last summer but has yet to take effect, the EC announced Wednesday.
