Cessna May Face Punitive Damages In MDL: Judge

Law360 (April 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge overseeing product liability litigation against Cessna Aircraft Co. has kept alive a bid for punitive damages by the families of nine passengers who died in an airplane crash near Naches, Wash.

Judge Kathryn Vratil of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas on Thursday overruled the plaintiffs' motion to reconsider a February order tossing a fraud claim against the airplane manufacturer, but she declined to dismiss the plaintiffs' push for punitive damages.
