Duke Sues Insurer For Defense Costs In Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Duke University has sued Coregis Insurance Co. to recoup costs the school paid to settle a patent infringement suit brought over a decade ago by a physicist formerly employed by the university.

In a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, Duke claims that Coregis must indemnify and reimburse the school for the confidential cash settlement and other defense costs under the terms of an educators legal liability insurance policy issued by Coregis to Duke in 1996....
