Fed. Circ. Finds For Honda In Truck Bed Patent Suit

Law360 (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An appeals court has affirmed a lower court's decision to grant summary judgment to Honda America Corp. Inc., handing the automaker a victory in a suit alleging that the trunk in Honda's Ridgeline infringed a Kansas inventor's patent.

Circuit Judges Randall Rader, Daniel Friedman and Richard Linn said Friday that no literal or equivalent infringement had occurred given the claims construction. Judge Carlos Murguia of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas had made the same ruling in 2007 and 2008.
