2 German Gas Cos. Fined €41.4M In Cartel Probe

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Germany's cartel watchdog has fined two liquefied gas suppliers a total of €41.4 million ($54.5 million) for allegedly engaging in years of anti-competitive behavior, including agreeing not to poach one another's customers.

The fines announced Wednesday against Westfalen AG of Münster and Propan Rheingas GmbH & Co. KG of Brühl are the latest in the Bundeskartellamt's investigation into several companies it claims agreed in 1997 not to compete for customers.
