NIH Limits Stem Cell Funding To Fertility Clinics

Law360, New York (April 17, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A proposal by the National Institutes of Health would allow funding for embryonic stem cell research on cells unused by fertility clinic patients, but wouldn't allow funding of cloned cells.

The proposal the agency announced Friday wouldn't allow funding for research on cells created through a cloning technique called somatic cell nuclear transfer or for research on embryos created specifically for research purposes.
