Tech Cos. Still Seek Patents Despite Economy: Poll

Law360, New York (April 21, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Despite the downturn in the economy, technology companies are still planning to snap up patents to keep their company portfolios strong, but the primary challenge remains finding quality patents, according to a poll.

The survey, conducted jointly by patent brokerage firm IPotential LLC and technical adviser Semiconductor Insights, revealed on Tuesday that while 32 percent of corporate, legal and engineering executives from technology firms had bought patents in the past year, 64 percent said they were open to buying patents in the coming year.
