Jehovah's Witness' Widow Due Death Benefits: Court

Law360, New York (April 21, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Wyoming Supreme Court has ruled that the state's Workers Safety and Compensation Division must pay death benefits to the widow of a Jehovah's Witness even though the man's family wouldn't allow doctors to use blood products to treat his injuries.

The state high court ruled in a 4-1 decision Tuesday that the Wyoming Workers Safety and Compensation Division was wrong to refuse death benefits to the widow of Howard W. Williams based on the family's refusal of medical care.
