DOI Finalizes Rule For Offshore Energy Projects

Law360, New York (April 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior has finalized a program aimed at boosting renewable energy production in the Outer Continental Shelf, including long-awaited rules for the development of offshore wind farms, President Obama announced Wednesday.

The final rule, made public Wednesday in honor of Earth Day, will set up a system for granting leases, easements and rights-of-way for renewable energy projects, making it easier for companies to develop renewable energy projects.
