Fla. Lawmakers Push For Offshore Oil Drilling

Law360 (April 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A panel of Florida state lawmakers has pushed forward a bill that seeks to open the door for oil and gas exploration off Florida's coast.

The measure, approved by the Policy Council of the Florida House of Representatives on Tuesday, aims to lift the state's long-running ban on oil and gas production in state waters, and would give the state's governor the power to review and approve industry plans to drill between 3 and 10 miles off Florida's coast.
