Sierra Club Sues Power Co-Op Over Air Pollution

Law360, New York (April 23, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Sierra Club has sued East Kentucky Power Cooperative Inc., alleging the utility constructed a new boiler unit that illegally emits hazardous air pollutants.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, seeks injunctive relief against EKPC, including remediation for illegal discharges of toxic pollutants and civil penalties for alleged violations of the Clean Air Act.
