25% Would Pay More Under House GOP Tax Bill, Report Says

Law360, New York (November 8, 2017, 10:12 PM EST) -- The House Republicans’ proposed tax cut legislation would actually result in a tax increase for 25 percent of middle- and upper-income households in 10 years, according to an analysis from the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center released Wednesday.

The nonpartisan think tank said in its distributional estimate that although the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, or H.R. 1, would reduce taxes on average for all income groups, the largest cuts would accrue to higher-income households.
