US Says Citgo Obviously Liable In La. Oil Spill

Law360 (April 24, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Attorneys for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have asked for partial summary judgment in a suit against Citgo Petroleum Corp., saying the facts are clear in the company's 2.2 million gallon oil spill into Louisiana waterways.

In a motion filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, the EPA said most claims around the oil spill should be decided as a matter of law, leaving calculations on the volume of oil spilled and damages for trial.
