Salazar To Use Courts To Nix Bush-Era Mining Rule

Law360, New York (April 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said Monday that he would use the courts to try to overturn an eleventh-hour Bush administration rule that relaxed environmental standards for mountaintop removal coal mining.

Salazar said he had asked the U.S. Department of Justice to file a court pleading requesting that the rule be vacated and remanded to the DOI for further action.
