Crown Says Not Polluter Under La. Law

Law360, New York (April 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Crown Oilfield Services Inc. has claimed that because it does not qualify as a polluter under Louisiana law, pollution exclusions in its policy with XL Specialty Insurance Co. should not allow the insurer to avoid covering more than 600 seamen’s claims that they became ill from exposure to radioactive and toxic chemicals while decommissioning an offshore oil platform BP America Inc.
