Fifth Third, JPMorgan, HomeBanc Settle Loan Spat

Law360 (April 28, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge overseeing the bankruptcy of HomeBanc Mortgage Corp. has signed off on a settlement involving the bankrupt lender, Fifth Third Bank and JPMorgan Chase Bank NA over the alleged mishandling of certain construction loans that were slated to be converted into mortgages.

Judge Kevin J. Carey issued the order in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware approving the proposed agreement, under which JPMorgan will transfer mortgage documents for the loans at issue to Fifth Third — a successor to First Charter Bank...
