La. Insurers Await Answer To $8B Question

Law360, New York (April 28, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal court has stayed a case brought by the Louisiana Attorney General's Office against dozens of insurance companies, pending an appellate decision that could see the multibillion-dollar action thrown out.

Proceedings halted Friday after Judge Carl Barbier issued an order staying them in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, pending word from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on whether insurance policies can be assigned post-loss.
