Mass. Co. Fined For Illegally Transporting Waste

Law360 (April 28, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A waste management and environmental services company has agreed to pay up to $225,000 for allegedly transporting hazardous waste without the proper permits.

Under a consent judgment signed Monday by a judge in Suffolk Superior Court in Massachusetts, Western Mass Environmental LLC will pay a $225,000 civil penalty to the state, along with attorneys' fees and costs.

However, $125,000 of that money will be waived if the company retains a consultant for two years to ensure compliance with hazardous waste management laws.
