EC Extends Probe Of Lufthansa-Brussels Air Deal

Law360, New York (April 28, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission on Tuesday reportedly extended its review of the proposed merger of German airline Lufthansa AG and Belgian rival Brussels Airlines by two weeks.

EC competition evaluators will now have until July 1 to review the proposed $325 million deal, which was announced in September. The original deadline on the review was June 10.

According to Reuters, the EC cited “commitments aimed at remedying” potential anti-competitive effects of the merger as the reason for the delay.
