French Court Shuts Down Production Of Classic Porsche Replicas

Law360, New York (February 19, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A French court barred a car maker from making replicas of Porsche’s legendary 356 Speedster model, designed by Ferry Porsche in 1948.

The Paris court of first instance shut down assembly lines at French car maker PGO Automobiles, which had been making replicas of the classic car, made famous by Hollywood icons such as James Dean in the 1950s.

The court ordered PGO to pay Porsche a 100,000 euro compensation and named an expert to assess overall damages caused to the German company.
