Sullivan & Cromwell Advises Optum's $4.9B Clinic Co. Buy

Law360, New York (December 6, 2017, 1:04 PM EST) -- UnitedHealth Group Inc. health services subsidiary Optum Inc. has agreed to pay $4.9 billion to acquire independent medical clinic operator DaVita Medical Group, Optum announced Wednesday, in a purchase advised by Sullivan & Cromwell LLP.

The acquisition of Colorado-based DaVita Medical Group, subsidiary of DaVita Inc., will strengthen Minnesota-based Optum’s urgent and primary care services; combine the company's data, analytics and technological expertise with DaVita Medical’s roster of physicians; and allow for more effective patient care, Optum said in a statement.
