Italy Fines Unilever €60M For Freezing Out Ice Cream Rivals
The Italian Competition Authority said that Unilever used exclusivity agreements with ice cream sellers to abuse the dominant position of its “Algida” brand in the prepackaged ice cream bar and popsicle market. The agency calls those types of treats, which are meant to be consumed immediately, “impulse” ice creams.
