Nassau Health Care Corp. Hit With Racial Bias Suit

Law360, New York (September 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Nassau Health Care Corporation has been hit with a multi-million dollar federal lawsuit alleging that the company violated state and federal laws by targeting employees for discrimination and harassment based on their race.

The 43-page complaint, filed in federal court on Long Island, blasts the corporation and 11 individual defendants, claiming that they deprived the seven plaintiffs—who are African-American—of constitutionally guaranteed rights.

The complaint claims the defendants purposefully treated black employees different than their white counterparts, and harassed and retaliated against the plaintiffs.
