Save-A-Lot Forced Suppliers To Switch Agents: Suit

Law360 (April 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An independent agent representing food suppliers and producers has accused Save-A-Lot Ltd. of strong-arming its suppliers into switching their representation in an anti-competitive plot to capture commissions.

Halls Sales and Marketing Inc. has sued Moran Foods Inc., which does business as Save-A-Lot, and Alliance Foods Inc. for allegedly forcing food suppliers to drop Halls in favor of Alliance, according to a complaint removed Wednesday to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
