SEC Denies Allegations Made By Former Attorney

Law360, New York (September 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission has denied that politics played a role in the agency’s investigation into possible insider-trading at one of the country’s largest hedge funds.

In court documents filed late Friday, the Commission refuted the claims of former SEC lawyer Gary Aguirre, who has alleged that the agency refused to question Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack in conjunction with a probe into Pequot Capital Management.
