Hydroxycut Linked To Liver Damage, 1 Death: FDA

Law360, New York (May 1, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recalled more than a dozen of Iovate Health Sciences Inc.’s popular Hydroxycut products on Friday after receiving reports of one death and 23 serious health problems resulting from the dietary supplements.

Iovate agreed to recall 14 of its liquid caplets, drink products and other slimming supplements after learning they led to adverse health effects including jaundice, potential liver injury and liver damage severe enough to warrant a liver transplant, according to the FDA.
