Senate Confirms Otting As Comptroller Of The Currency

Law360, Washington (November 16, 2017, 3:08 PM EST) -- The Senate approved Joseph Otting to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Thursday, filling a key financial industry regulatory office in President Donald Trump’s administration.

The former chief executive of OneWest Bank passed a 54-43 vote Thursday to take over as a key regulator for the nation’s largest banks. He will take over the post from acting Comptroller Keith Noreika. Otting had won the support of Republicans such as Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, chair of the banking committee, and a number of Democrats despite concerns about his tenure at OneWest.
