Sierra Pacific Seeks $20M In Dam Coverage
Sierra Pacific Power Co. has turned to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, claiming Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. and Zurich American Insurance Co. are required to cover the full $20 million cost of rebuilding the hydroelectric Farad Dam in California demolished in a flood rather than the awarded $1.2 million calculated to be the actual cash value of the destroyed dam.
