The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Thursday won dismissal of a lawsuit challenging three nationwide surface mining permits, with a Kentucky federal court finding that the agency was correct in granting two of the permits at issue despite environmental groups' claims that they violated the Clean Water Act.

A judge has stayed a lawsuit challenging a nationwide mining permit over alleged violations of the Clean Water Act because the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers under the Obama administration said it would consider suspending the program.
