An Oklahoma federal jury slapped Medtronic Inc. with an almost $10 million verdict on Thursday in a suit brought by a cardiologist alleging the medical technology company infringed a patent covering a catheter design used in angioplasty.

A federal judge has allowed Oklahoma cardiologist Jan K. Voda's patent infringement lawsuit against Medtronic Inc. over a catheter used in angioplasty to go forward because the patent's licensee has given Voda the right to bring the suit.
