An environmental lawyer for DuPont Co. told a New York federal court Tuesday that DuPont had no responsibility to pay for environmental upgrades at plants it sold Invista Co. because Invista breached an agreement between the companies.

An environmental consultant for Koch Industries Inc. unit Invista testified Monday that she advised the company to report environmental violations at plants it purchased from DuPont Co. to avoid massive fines, as trial over the company's $744.6 million suit entered its second week.
