Nike Inc. must face several shoppers' allegations that it illegally collected their ZIP codes when they bought Nike merchandise, after a California federal judge ruled Wednesday that there were factual disputes about the company's sales process.

A California judge on Monday refused to certify a statewide class in a suit challenging Nike Inc.'s policy of requesting ZIP codes from credit card customers, finding that the three named plaintiffs were never actually victims of the policy.
