Bayer Corp. scored a major win Wednesday in a California class action accusing it of falsely advertising the prostate benefits of its vitamins after a judge determined the plaintiffs failed to show those marketing claims were false at the time they were made.

Bayer Corp. on Tuesday said plaintiffs in a class action who allege the company falsely advertised some of its vitamins are attempting to use an expert "of dubious qualifications" in support of their case in an effort to shift the burden of proof to Bayer.

A California federal judge on Friday granted class certification to consumers who say Bayer Corp. falsely advertised its One-A-Day multivitamins as supporting prostate health despite scientific evidence to the contrary.
