Verizon Wireless on Friday told a California federal court that consumers and the company would be harmed if Apple Inc. is granted an injunction preventing Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd from marketing its allegedly patent-infringing line of 4G-compatible smartphones and tablet computers.

Apple Inc. on Thursday won a bid for an expedited trial in its suit in California federal court alleging Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s smartphones and tablet computers infringe patents covering its iPhone and iPad — the same day that Apple's co-counsel Bridges & Mavrakakis withdrew from the case.
