A federal judge on Tuesday rejected the Sherwin-Williams Co.'s effort to sink a suit claiming it sold a cleaning chemical manufacturer a contaminated property and then reneged on an agreement to clean up polluted groundwater there.

A Maryland federal judge ruled Wednesday that a cleaning chemical manufacturer suing Sherwin-Williams Co. for allegedly selling it a contaminated property and reneging on a pollution cleanup commitment cannot withhold attorney-client communications on which it bases some claims.
